Collection: PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES

Discover new skills, brush up on old ones and explore your own creativity here at Combewater Studios situated on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Devon / Dorset border.

With a broad range of interdisciplinary skills and many years of teaching experience between them, Alison Brown and Robin Shelton are able to offer you a holistic, traditional and multi-disciplinary approach with a focus on the promotion of skill as well as ideas.

ROBIN SAYS...

Having grown up with a camera in my hand, there has never been a time in my life when I haven't owned and used at least one - don't ask how many I have now! Digital cameras and camera-phones are fantastic tools for many photographic jobs, but for a true photographic experience, it has to be film! Nothing compares to the tactile quality of handling a real camera, slowing down to make an image (there are only so many shots on the roll!) and the intoxicating process of developing film and making prints; thirty-five years after I first set foot in a darkroom, watching a print materialise in the developer is still pure magic. But don't just take my word for it - book on to a course to find out for yourself. From basic camera handling to the amazing world of alternative, historical and sustainable processes, Devon Darkroom is here to make photography fulfilling and fun again!

Group sizes for courses will be limited, with social distancing measures in place.

Future offers ... experimental eco developing techniques using plant matter from the garden. Low impact / sustainable photography.
