With London and Birmingham 3 hours away and St Ives, in Cornwall 2 hours drive, we are perfectly located for a few hours break en route to or from your holiday destination in the South West.

What could you do in a half or whole day creatively?

In the Ceramic Studio with Alison

You could make

• Terracotta tiles with slip and incised decoration
• Small clay animals
• Small pinch or coiled pots
• A press mould dish with slip and incised decoration, perhaps using texture and inspiration from our garden
• Ceramic beads

[max. five people] Work will be fired afterward and posted back at an extra cost

In the Jewellery Studio with Robin

You could …

Make a simple silver ring or bracelet

Learn to make jump rings for bracelets and necklaces

[max. three people + over 16 yrs of age]

In the Dark Room with Robin

You could 

• Create cyanotypes using material from our garden [max. six people]
• Make phytoprints [max. six people]
• Learn how to use a pinhole camera [max. three people]

In the Sewing Room with Alison

You could 

• Eco-print fabric or paper using locally foraged plant matter
• Try hooking a rug - a great way to reuse old clothes or fabric
• Needlefelt a picture or felt some beads using fleece from the alpacas next-door

If not all the family are feeling creative, we can provide maps of local walks from our home of varying lengths to keep them occupied while the rest get arty.

The studios are situated in a beautiful green leafy valley in East Devon, close to both the A35 and A303/30 near Honiton, not far from Lyme Regis and the beautiful Jurassic Coast. They are part of a complete eco-renovation project which also includes an old Methodist chapel.
