This is a hand-made porcelain wreath of pipefish. Dozens of thin blue/green glazed ceramic fish are tangled amongst hand-knotted garden twine net which is dipped into liquid porcelain slip and fired to high temperatures in the kiln.
This wreath is a reminder that our oceans are in peril and marine life is compromised daily through human waste and overconsumption. A beautifully delicate reminder of this sadness.
The video Sidmouth Fish Wreath tells a story of the seeming futility of holding back the tide of climate change, yet we have to believe that small changes will make a difference, and keep going.
