Time + Tide

I'm delighted to have had this opportunity to develop a new installation for this Estuary project using porcelain and video.

Rushes originated while walking along Exminster Marshes last October with Steve Manning and others. Such a still morning, brilliant blue sky, perfect mirrored reflections of rushes in the canal and water. Birds dipping in and out of earshot.

Used traditionally in the home for a myriad purposes but nowadays just a screen along pathways, allowing a glimpse of views across the estuary and towards the ever present railway trains dashing to and from Cornwall. A home for Reed Buntings in Spring whose calls were captured for the video in April 2025.

Liminal edge-scapes feathering the borderlines between water and sky.

A swish and sigh as a breeze rustles through the swaying leaf and feathery topknot.

Reflections reveal and distort glimpses of another world, underworld.

Reflecting on the overlooked with lacy edging of watery boundaries.
