Eco-printing workshop

Beautiful results on a hot Wednesday morning this week in our garden studio eco-printing silk scarves using flowers, plants and veg. Some lovely effects using bramble, hawthorn and wild honeysuckle dye baths (one very heavy with iron!) One participant sprinkled her fabric with turmeric which of course smelt delicious and created a very vivid ochre background to the plant stuff. Red geranium and pink hydrangea petals were particularly effective this month. While the participants waited for the simmering bundles to do their magic they experimented with the Hapazome technique of bashing flowers with a hammer onto card to create instant prints - strangely satisfying!

A lovely half-day session getting creative using completely natural processes and materials.
