Cotleigh Flower Festival 14th & 15th Sep 24

Robin and I will be taking part for the first time in our local Cotleigh Flower Festival over the weekend of 14-15th September. There will be innovative floristry, children's activities, local plants, homemade food, plus a programme of talks.

Our contribution is on Saturday morning when Robin will be demonstrating how to make phytograms using natural processes and materials - similar to cyanotype but using the chemicals in the plant to leave unique shadows on developer paper.

These are tulip petals with the stamens creating stunning pops of lime.

I will be showing how to use plants from the hedgerow and going-over flowers to naturally dye silk fabric. An old process which has been popularised over the past ten years, using environmental materials and techniques.

Come along and join in.

Post Script

What a wonderful job Sarah Broome did to create the first Cotleigh in Bloom Festival over the weekend. The church looked amazing with many many visitors when we arrived Saturday morning. We had an interested audience for our demonstrations so hopefully it will be an annual event on the local calendar.
